Story
Who is Olga Olikova?
Olga Olikova, or @oobraider, is today one of the world's most celebrated braiders, though her path began elsewhere. Born in Russia, she studied fashion design and moved to Slovakia. Her braiding journey started in 2018 at a Children's Day event in the village of Lutila, where she braided every child and the staff for free. People's enthusiasm convinced her to keep going, and a hobby became a business and, eventually, her own salon in Bratislava.
She took her first big leap in 2021, entering the international OneShot Hair Awards in the USA at the last minute. She immediately placed among the world's top 25 braiders. In 2023 in Austin she won her category and took home the “Oscar” of hairdressing. And in the summer of 2025, in Dallas, against competitors from 120 countries, she did it again.
Alongside her own work, Olga teaches and inspires others. She runs online courses for students around the world. In 2026, 28 of her students' works from 10 countries reached the OneShot TOP 100, more than one in four places in the category. She has also authored two books in Slovak, Vysnívané copíky s kanekalonom on braiding with kanekalon and Môj ženský biznis na Instagrame on building a women's business on Instagram, sharing her know-how.
